Quantico is an upcoming American thriller television series, created by and executive produced by Joshua Safran with Mark Gordon, that's set to air on ABC as a part of the 2015–16 television season on Sundays at 10:00 pm Eastern/9:00 pm Central. It was initially slated to air Tuesday at 10pm, but was switched to Sundays due to Of Kings and Prophets being retooled. Quantico will debut on September 27, 2015 after new series, Blood and Oil. It revolves around a group of young FBI recruits, who are training at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The series features an ensemble cast headed by Aunjanue Ellis as Miranda Shaw, the Assistant Director of the FBI Academy. The series' protagonist is Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), an FBI trainee who has an affair with another recruit. Jake McLaughlin, Tate Ellington, Graham Rogers, Johanna Braddy and Yasmine Al Masri co-star as FBI recruits.
Production
Development
On September 17, 2014, it was announced that ABC bought the original concept for the drama series written by Joshua Safran and produced by Mark Gordon. It described as Grey's Anatomy meets Homeland. Quantico produced by ABC Studios and Mark Gordon Company. ABC ordered the pilot on January 23, 2015 for 2015–16 television season. The pilot episode was filmed in Atlanta and directed by Marc Munden. On May 7, 2015, ABC picked up the pilot to series.Casting
Casting advertisement began in February 2015. Tate Ellington was first actor, who landed the role of an FBI trainee on February 9, 2015. On February 9, Graham Rogers joined the series as another FBI trainee. On February 25, it was announced that Aunjanue Ellis will play the leading role of Miranda Shaw, the assistant director of the training academy. Ellis was cast in this role following the success of ABC's How to Get Away with Murder, also featuring an African American lead. Later, it was announced that Dougray Scott who was cast as the Ellis' character's former partner was re-casted as her subordinate. On February 25, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra landed the role of FBI trainee Alex Parrish, the series' young female lead. On March 3, it was announced that Jake McLaughlin will play Alex Parrish's love interest, while Johanna Braddy and Yasmine Al Masri were cast in the final co-starring roles.After the pilot was picked-up, ABC began making casting changes. On May 19, 2015, it was announced that Dougray Scott, who played FBI Special Agent Liam O'Connor, left the show and the role will be recast.
Series synopsis
The series follows a group of young FBI recruits, all with specific reasons for joining as flashbacks will detail their previous lives, battling their way through training at the training academy in Quantico, Virginia. However, the series will reveal in a flash forward twist that one of the recruits, once they graduate from the academy, will be suspected of masterminding the biggest terror attack on New York City since 9/11.Cast and characters
