Strength of a woman

What makes the Indian woman so strong? She might be full of anxiety but here's why she scores high on the life's chart....

     A recent survey revealed the Indian women are the most stressed out in the world. A few days later, another survey put forth the view that  women are also the most optimistic in the world. So we decided to highlight the most defining qualities of an woman which make her successful, personally and professionally. How she handles the pressure of work and home. How she juggles numerous chores all at once. While most agree that the woman has too much on her plate which results in high stress levels, most feel that it is due to her other characteristics that she has learnt to be optimistic in the face of severe hardship.

     According to Psycho-spiritual doctor, Ashleyy K.S., "women are the most patient and tolerant apart from the Japanese. They are family-oriented and know how a keep things together. They come from a culture that is positive and spiritual, it helps them too."

WHAT THE SURVEYS SAY?
  • A survey of 6500 women across21 developed and developing countries revealed that indian women are most optimistic about opportunities for growth with 78 percent of the lot confident about better financial stability and better chances for education for their daughters.
  • According to a study by global research firm Nielsen, Indian women across the world are the most stressed for time with 87 percent of respondents stating they they felt stressed most of the time and 83 percent claiming they had no time to relax. 
MIND OVER MATTER

There are many issues cropping up when it comes to indian women because of the hign stress and pressure they undergo every day. While they are professionally and personally in a better space, there are two diseases cropping up due to the high stress. Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker have topped the list of Hollywood's highest paed actresses, earning an estimated $30 million this year, according to forbes magazine.

Forbes's blogger Dorothy Pomerantz said Jolie's success stemmed from her ability to handle action, drama and directing. Jolie's earnings were boosted by movies such a Salt and The Tourist, repots the Sydney Morning Herald.

On the other hand, Parker's big fortune was tied to the success of television and film series Sex and the city. "The second movie, which hit screens in 2010, performed pretty well bringing in a 'respectable' $290 million dollars," she said. Ranking third behind Jolie and parker are Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, who each brought in $28 million.

'Broad-faced' men may cheat for money

A man's face might hint if he is bad to the bone, as a new study has found that people with wider faces tend to be more devious and more willing to cheat.

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the US found that men with broader faces were approximately three times as likely to lie in negotiations than their narrower faced peers to gain more financial benefit.

For their study, the researchers carried out several experiments to analyse if men's facial structure has anything to do with their personality traits, Live Science reported.

In one experiment, researchers measured the facial width-to-height ratio of 192 students, 115 of whom were men, and randomly assigned them to play either buyer's or seller's roles in negotiations over emails.

It was found men with broader faces were approximately three times as likely to lie in the negotiation than narrower-faced men. facial width was not linked to either deveption or trust worthiness in women. In another experiment, the researchers analysed how willing volunteers were to cheat.

They had 103 students, 50 of whom were men, and asked them to roll a pair of dice to see how many times they would be entered into a lottery. Participants had the chance to lie about their dice roll to increase their chances of winning. Men with broader faces overstated their dice rolls by 18.6 percent.

'Cutting Salt of little help to health'

Researchers have called into question the gain of hold in reducing the amount of salt consumption after their analyzing disclosed that a cut in intake does not needful to reduce the likelihood of dying or experiencing cardiovascular disease.

The review does not discount info that reducing fare salt intake come down blood pressure. "Intensive aid and boost to cut salt intake did contribute to a reduction in salt taken and a least reduction in blood pressure"

Painkillers linked to irregualr heart rhythm


    Commonly used painkillers like ibuprofen and aspirin can increase the risk of developing an irregular heart rhythm by up to 40 per cent, according to a new study published in the British Medical Journal. The anti-inflammatories have been previously linked to a higher chance of heart attacks and strokes. Now, researchers at Aarhus university Hospital in Denmark have shown for the first time a connection between the drugs and atrial fibrillation, also known as irregular heart rhythm or flutter. The condition is more common than heart failure and stroke, and is linked to a higher long-term risk of developing both, say the researchers. confirming the results, professor Henrik Toft Sorensen, Who led the study, however, said that heart disease patients should not stop taking the drugs, but they should discuss the potential risks with their doctor. "The absolute risk is till low. It increases your risk from a very low level to a higher -but still low-level." he was quoted by The daily Telegraph as saying. For their study, the researchers examined the records of 32,602 hospital patients with flutter between 1999 and 2009 and compared each to 10 randomly selected control patients.
